General Information:

Geography:

Lebanon is located in the west of Asia and commands the Mediterranean Sea with a coast, which stretches along 250 km. it, covers an area of 10.452 square kilometers.

It is ordered by Syria to the north and the east, Palestine to the south, and the Mediterranean to the west. The highest point (Qornet es-Sawda) is 3000 meters above sea level.
 

Climate:

Nature donates Lebanon all the wonders including the lovely moderate climate, which varies from mild rainy winters and long warm summers. There is no rain between June and October and the Lebanese can count on 300 sunny days every year. Summers have high degrees of heat and humidity but not on the mountains.

In winter, however higher elevations can be cold and snowy. The annual rainfall averages 893 mm in Beirut, mostly occurring in winter.

Summer: 34c. Autumn: 25c. Winter: 11c. Spring: 18c.
 

Time:

Lebanese time is GMT + 2 hours in winter and + 3 hours in summer. When it is noon, Central Standard Time in the U.S, it is 8:00 P.M in Lebanon.
 

Population:

It has a population of about 4.000.000 inhabitants.

Annual growth of the population is 3%.
 

Main Cities:
Beirut: The capital of the Lebanese Republic

Tripoli: 85 km from Beirut and it is the administrative capital of the north and the second largest city of Lebanon

Byblos: 36 km north of Beirut

Sidon: 41 km south of Beirut and the capital of the south

Tyre: 79 km south of Beirut

Religion: Islam and Christianity

Health:

There are no inoculations needed for entry into Lebanon, unless you are coming from an affected area. The medical services in Lebanon are well developed and many doctors have been trained overseas and speak English.

Weights and Measures: Lebanon uses the metric system

- Government offices: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

On week days

And on Saturday 8:00 am – 12:30 pm

- Shops and private offices 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

(Hours vary, so it is better to check) 8:00 am – 5: 00 pm

Official day off:Sunday

Visa:

Foreigners who wish to visit Lebanon must have a valid passport and a Lebanese visa. Visas are delivered by the Lebanese diplomatic missions abroad.

It is given for a group of people (08 pax or more).

It is given upon arrival to the Lebanese airport or to the borders.

(A passport list filled with the full passport information of the participants stamped with the tour operator stamp is needed for check in formalities)

Many nationalities can apply for an individual visa upon arrival (kindly contact us for further details).

 

Lebanon’s major airport:

Beirut International Airport: 10 minutes from the city center

The borders with Syria are open 24 hours a day.
